Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup dried elderberries (or 2 cups fresh)
  • 4 cup water
  • 1 cup raw honey
  • 1 cinnamon stick (or 1 teaspoon ground)
  • 4-5 whole cloves (or 1/2 teaspoon ground)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

Equipment

  • Saucepan or Pot
  • Fine Mesh Strainer or Cheesecloth
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Glass Jar or Bottle
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons

Method
 

  1. Boil water, elderberries, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger in a large pot until it starts turning dark purple.
  2. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 40–45 minutes until the liquid is reduced by half.
  3. Let the mixture cool for 15–20 minutes until it’s warm, not hot.
  4. Strain through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth, pressing gently to extract all the liquid.
  5. Add 1 cup of raw honey and stir well until completely mixed.
  6. Pour into a clean glass jar, label, and store in the refrigerator

Not recommended for children under 1 year because of honey content
